Our 1st Texas Road Trip has
begun, there are so many places we want to visit in Texas and you gotta start somewhere so we pulled out of Abilene around 10:30 and decided since it was almost lunch time, we would make Coleman our first stop! Zach and Meg had told
us about this cute little jewel called Owl Drug.
It had lots of cute gifts, a pharmacy and a very fun little old fashioned soda fountain and grill offering up some delicious looking options. We had to try the Fried Pickles because Zach and Meg couldn’t quit talking about them…and they are right…delicious!!!! Best we have ever had, we also tried the Piggy Burger & Reuben Sandwich. Everything was yummy, and the wait staff was so cute and fun! After we ate, we ventured on down the road, stopped in Goldswaite at a very fun Hardware Store and looked around and then on to our first stop, Mother Neff State Park.
What a fun and clean park! It is small, only around 20 spots but they are all new and really nicely done! We were anxious to walk around but it started raining about 30 minutes before we got here and didn't left up. We got set up, unpacked and then played some domino's and vegged out!
Everything is new, a visitors center, bathhouses and pads for trailer, benches around the site, etc. They used Austin stone on everything, which we love! Too bad we are moving on tomorrow, as this place has a lot of neat looking trails so we may have to put this back on the list to re-visit again!
We had a pretty intense rain storm in the night, lots of lightning and hard rain. Normally that makes for fun sleeping but because of the recent flooding, the rivers are pretty much already on overload and flooding is such a possibility in this area, as they have had two big floods in this area in the past few weeks, so it wasn’t restful sleeping, but God took good care of us. We got ready for our day, walked around just a little and then headed for Waco, but we hope to come back to Mother Neff, we had such a great location and its such a pretty space!

We drove to
the new Magnolia Silos and it was so amazing and fun. It’s so
family oriented and the store is so pretty. We
got a couple of little things, but oh so many temptations.
