On Larry's bucket list...
to catch a fish on his fly rod in every state in the U.S.A.
When we first arrived in Utah, I started telling him that we had to find a place to fish! He had been watching streams, asking around in fly shops, etc. but the snow melt had the streams running way to fast and high for good fishing. But things are better in Torrey, Utah. We talked to a nice young man who ran a fly shop in Torrey and so today, he will take us to a private section of the Fremont river and Larry will get to fly fish. I decided against paying for me to fish today too...for several reasons. When I fish, I feel like Larry has to "help" me get my gear on, help me with my line, etc and that takes away from time for him to fish. Plus, its been a couple of years since I have gotten to fly-fish, I decided it would be best to save my first time back on the water at a place that I could work at it without the pressure of a guide or "paying" for time of the river. So, not fishing gave me time to take pictures and chill out on the bank of the river and let him have this time all to himself. So glad I did. It was so fun for me to get to watch him, take pictures (yep, I took a lot!) and just veg in my camp chair. I even did a little reading and looked at a magazine!
We hope to fish again in Colorado and I for sure am looking forward
to getting on the river with him!!

WELL...LARRY CAN MARK UTAH OFF THE BUCKET LIST! YIPPEE!!!
Not a bad backdrop for fishing, huh.
A pretty brown trout caught and of course released by my favorite fisherman!
And another...
And another...
and another!
The fish is not as happy as the fisherman!
Larry
had a great time, caught around 6 pretty browns & had 5-6 get off the
hook and even more strike his line. So a very fun day of fishing for my man!
We returned to camp, cleaned up, did laundry, and then we went to Cafe Diablo for supper. We had researched and asked around for good places to eat since this was our one time to eat in Torrey, we wanted it to be really good! It did not disappoint!!!
We shared a great salad with banana
bread croutons, how genius is that!
Those croutons were so delicious!!!
I had watermelon salsa and chipotle pork tenderloin with a super yummy frittata, and the pan sauce served with the tenderloin was so amazing, that Larry ended up eating it with his ribs too...yummy!
Larry had ribs
that were served with Brussels sprouts and sweet potatoes.
All was so good, seasoned perfectly and served so pretty! Nice place!
We rolled out of the restaurant (literally because we were both stuffed!!), ran my a post office to mail some cards off to the kids and headed back to the Casita to load up as much as we could so that pulling out tomorrow will be a breeze.
It's on to Moab, Utah and the Arches National Park and Canyonlands National Park!
you chronicled that fly fishing in an amazing way! love all the details of the trip!!!
